Two people in Oklahoma have been arrested after a routine traffic stop revealed much more.
When police in Guthrie stopped a car that had an expired tag, they discovered that the car was stolen and contained a litany of strange items, among them an open bottle of Kentucky Deluxe whiskey, a pet Timber rattlesnake, a gun, and a canister of radioactive powdered uranium.
Stephen Jennings was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, transporting an open container of liquor, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, and failure to carry security verification form, according to News4. Rachel Rivera was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Guthrie Police Sgt. Anthony Gibbs said they didn’t arrest Jennings for charges related to the rattlesnake because its rattlesnake hunting season in the state and he had a valid lifetime hunting and fishing license.
Neither were slapped with any charges for the uranium, and police are still trying to figure out why the duo had the radioactive material.
“When that happens of course, we call in a company that deals with that specifically and it’s taken safely into possession,” Gibbs said. “The uranium is the wild card in that situation.”
