DUMFRIES, Virginia — With roughly two weeks to go until the midterm elections, one of the hottest races in the country is in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District.
At a rally Monday night, Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) spoke in support of Yesli Vega (R), who is trying to unseat Abigail Spanberger (D-VA).
“Folks, this is a movement that is inspired and empowered by you,” Vega told the crowd. “We’re not just talking to Republican voters. We’re talking to Democrats, we’re talking to independents because we understand what is at stake this election cycle.”
Roy, who grew up in nearby Loudoun County, stressed to the crowd gathered outside the Montclair Tabernacle Church of God the importance of turning this seat from blue to red.
“This race is going to be a bellwether for the future of this country. And it’s going to be an exclamation point on what we saw last year when Gov. Youngkin proved everyone wrong,” Roy said.

Youngkin urged the crowd to repeat what they did last year when he won the election.
“This red wave that’s running across the nation, sweeping across the commonwealth, Yesli Vega is going to get her surfboard. She’s going to surf right into Washington, and she’s going to bring a plane ticket with her and hand it to Nancy Pelosi and send her right back to California,” Youngkin said.

Cruz echoed those thoughts, predicting a “red tsunami” is coming.
“When we have a majority, we need to act like it and use that majority,” Cruz said.
“I don’t know if there’s a candidate in the country I am more excited about than Yesli Vega,” he added. “I’ve listened to Yesli talk, and I am ready. Give me the torch and the pitchfork, and let’s march together to take America back!”
