Sanders nabs second straight victory in North Dakota after winning the state in 2016

Bernie Sanders nabbed North Dakota as he and Joe Biden tussle for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

The Vermont senator won 53.3% of the vote to the two-term vice president and 36-year Delaware senator’s 39.8%, with 100% of precincts reporting.

North Dakota offers candidates seeking the White House 14 pledged delegates via its so-called firehouse caucuses run by the North Dakota Democratic–Nonpartisan League Party.

Sanders won the 2016 contest in the state, beating then-Democratic rival Hillary Clinton with 64.21% support to her 25.63%.

Going into Tuesday’s round of primaries, Biden led Sanders in the delegate count, 823 to his opponent’s 663. A total of 1,991 delegates are required to become the next Democratic standard-bearer.
