President Trump argued Monday that the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller to lead the Russia investigation was “unconstitutional.”
“The appointment of the Special Counsel is totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL! Despite that, we play the game because I, unlike the Democrats, have done nothing wrong!” Trump tweeted on Monday.

Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, a Trump appointee, after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the investigation.
Trump’s latest assertion came moments after he tweeted that he had the “absolute right” to pardon himself, though he has done nothing wrong.
