Kellyanne Conway swipes at Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize win

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway took a dig at former President Barack Obama while praising President Trump’s summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, saying Trump is “actually going to earn” a Nobel Peace Prize.

“Look, the last president was handed the Nobel Peace Prize. This president is actually going to earn it,” Conway told Fox News on Wednesday. “And that’s all we need to know from this. It’s his moxie.”

Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

This year, more than a dozen Republicans in Congress have formally nominated Trump for the prize, citing his efforts to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula and improve relations between North and South Korea.

Seven Republican governors also backed Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump returned to Washington, D.C., early Wednesday from his historic summit with Kim in Singapore, after which the two signed a joint statement.

The declaration names four main points, including that the U.S. and North Korea will commit to building a “lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula” and Pyongyang will commit to work toward complete denuclearization.
