‘Most Outstanding Display of Pettiness’: Bloomberg awards Trump with ‘The Donalds’

Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaign doled out “The Donalds” awards during the Academy Awards.

In a knockoff of sorts of the glitzy Hollywood event Sunday evening, the former New York City mayor’s team tweeted insulting mock-accolades such as “Most Outstanding Display of Pettiness.”

“Tonight’s the big night,” the campaign tweeted. “The votes are in, and the awards we’ve all been waiting for are about to be announced. These are the #Donalds.”

Among the awards were tweets for “Outstanding Hypocrisy,” with a video clip of Trump ostensibly directing a crowd singing the national anthem; “Best Fictional Wall,” with a clip of a small section of the U.S.-Mexico border wall being blown down by strong winds; and “Best Failed Impulse Purchase,” referencing the president’s idea to purchase Greenland.

“Yeah … part of Trump’s border wall just fell down. We need a president who won’t spend our money on stupid s@#%,” the campaign wrote in one the videos.

Trump didn’t get all the honors. The billionaire presidential candidate reserved one for himself: “Candidate who terrifies Donald Trump the Most.”

Trump has slammed Bloomberg repeatedly on Twitter, dubbing him “Mini Mike.”

“Mini Mike Bloomberg doesn’t get on the Democrat Debate Stage because he doesn’t want to – he is a terrible debater and speaker. If he did, he would go down in the polls even more (if that is possible!),” Trump tweeted last month.

Social media has been a focus of Bloomberg’s campaign, as his team has experimented with attempts to use humor to go viral since his presidential announcement.

In January, Bloomberg, 77, tweeted a video in which he declared his love for “Big Gay Ice Cream.” The mayor exclaimed, “Mmmh, Big Gay Ice Cream is the best!”
