DECATUR, Ill. (AP) — The family of a Vietnam War veteran who died in 2011 is set to receive several of the medals he earned for his service.
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis is scheduled to award the medals to Stephen Kennedy’s sister on Tuesday at the congressman’s Decatur office.
The medals include the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Kennedy served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. The Decatur man died without receiving the medals he had been awarded.
He was survived by two children, several grandchildren and his sister.
