The 6-year-old boy who donated money he saved for a trip to Disney World to help victims of Hurricane Dorian has been given a free trip to the adventure park.
“I was just super happy,” said Jermaine Bell. “I wanted to Disney for a long time.”
A representative from Disney showed up at Bell’s house as he was celebrating his seventh birthday on Sunday and said she had a surprise for him outside his house.
When Bell saw Mickey Mouse waiting for him just beyond his front door, his face lit up with excitement.
Bell had been saving up for almost a full year for his first-ever trip to Disney when he heard about the impact the storm would have on millions of people along the eastern seaboard.
“The people that are traveling to go to places, I wanted them to have some food to eat, so they can enjoy the ride to the place that they’re going to stay at,” Bell told WBTW 13. “I wanted to be generous and live to give.”
For Bell’s family, the gesture from Disney carried a sense of fulfillment and validation.
“Never in a million years could we have expected anything like this from them,” Lauren Creech, his mother said. “It really does instill in him that when you do good, good comes back to you.”
