Tucker Carlson: Bernie Sanders the ‘lamest revolutionary ever’ and ‘secretly enjoying losing’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson said Bernie Sanders was the “lamest revolutionary ever.”

In his opening monologue Tuesday evening, Carlson also suggested the Vermont senator was “secretly enjoying losing.”

“Sanders is a socialist bomb-thrower who praises Fidel Castro, but it’s mostly talk in the end,” Carlson said as votes were being counted in Michigan and other primary contests. “Underneath it all, Bernie Sanders may be the lamest revolutionary ever.”

Carlson argued “real revolutionaries go to the wall for what they believe,” but “Bernie Sanders won’t even go to the convention.”

The Fox News host floated the idea Sanders secretly enjoys losing because he views it as more “noble.”

“It is pretty obvious that Sanders doesn’t want to win,” Carlson said. “He’s a man who thinks it’s more noble to fail than to succeed. You are watching a professional loser. Sanders is all but admitting that now. He’s already promised to back Biden if Biden wins the nomination.”

Carlson accused Sanders of “self-loathing” and brought up how protesters took over the stage at one of Sanders’s rallies in 2015.

“Imagine doing that yourself,” Carlson told his audience. “Imagine how much self-loathing you would have. Would your kids even look at you in the face? Probably not.”

Sanders failed to repeat his 2016 victory in Michigan on Tuesday, falling to former Vice President Joe Biden by double-digit percentage points.

The Vermont senator won the primary in North Dakota but lost to Biden in Mississippi, Idaho, and Missouri and trails in the overall delegate count.

Some prominent political figures, including revered South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, have suggested Biden’s lead on Sanders is insurmountable to the point that the upcoming debate between the two Democrats on Sunday should be canceled.
