Most criminals don’t leave an image of themselves behind at the scene of a crime, but police in California say that is exactly what happened when an artist was recently robbed.
The sketchy situation began last week in Riverside, California, after a man approached a caricature artist and requested one of the cartoonish renderings. Once the drawing was complete, the suspect quickly grabbed the artist’s money bag and fled the scene.
Although he was able to make off with approximately $500, the thief left behind his own caricature in the heat of the moment.

The portrait shows the suspect with emphasized features, sporting a thin mustache and wearing an earring. The man has on a backward cap, with tufts of hair pushing out from under the brim. In a social media post, the Riverside Police Department described the suspect as a 5’1” black male with an average build in his early 20s.
“This caricature is of the suspect, but of course, has exaggerated characteristics and features,” the police department said.
Police are asking the public to help find the man and are hoping that someone in the Riverside area recognizes him from the unique clue.
