The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, setting up a final vote on Oct. 26.
Democrats did not show up for the vote, deciding to boycott the event because they object to her nomination and the process taking place so close to the election.
All Republicans voted in person.
Before the vote, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham of South Carolina warned that Democrats “are going to regret it” and said it would further degrade the confirmation process.
