Dead brothel owner Dennis Hof wins Nevada assembly seat for GOP

Deceased brothel owner and Republican state assemblyman candidate Dennis Hof was elected Tuesday night, despite being dead, in a largely GOP district in Nevada.

Hof, whose cause of death is still being determined, defeated Democratic challenger Lesia Romanov in Nevada’s 36th Assembly District. A Republican will be appointed by county officials to take his seat.

The candidate and brothel owner died suddenly Oct. 16 after a weekend of celebrating his 72nd birthday, officials do not believe there was any foul play, the Associated Press reported.

Hof ran for office in 2016 as a Libertarian, but lost, and ran this year competed as a Republican and earned backing from longtime GOP operative Roger Stone and Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist.

The 36th Assembly District in Nevada has been long held by Republicans. The District includes rural communities and stretches of desert in the southern part of Nevada.

Hof, said he was inspired to run for state assemblyman because of President Trump’s success in politics, was found dead at one of his 20 brothels in Nevada by porn actor Ron Jeremy and a prostitute at Love Ranch brothel.
