‘People were really mad’: Frank Luntz reports results of debate focus group of undecided voters

Pollster and political operative Frank Luntz says the focus group he ran during tonight’s debate wasn’t pleased with either candidate’s performance.

According to Bloomberg, the group was made up of 15 undecided voters. Luntz talked to the members of it throughout the course of the Tuesday night debate.

“The focus group told me that Chris Wallace was the winner in trying to control the two debaters,” Luntz said. He added that they believed, “America was the loser.”

“The fact is that this was the most disruptive, aggressive, rude, I don’t have the thesaurus to give you all the words that were going through my screen voter group,” said Luntz. “People were really mad at what was happening.”

Tuesday night’s debate was the first general election presidential debate of 2020. It featured a number of fiery exchanges between both the candidates and the moderator. President Trump frequently interrupted Joe Biden, and Biden once told the president to “shut up.”

The next debate will take place on Oct. 15.
