Former President Donald Trump relished in his vague endorsement of “Eric” in the GOP Senate Missouri primary, calling the chaos that ensued to claim his praise “a thing of beauty,” according to a new report.
Trump thought it was “too goddamn funny” watching Eric Greitens, the former governor of Missouri, and Eric Schmitt, the state’s attorney general, scramble to claim the vague endorsement as theirs, sources familiar told Rolling Stone.

Schmitt claimed the endorsement, touting himself as the “only America First candidate.” Greitens simultaneously argued that it was actually meant for him, saying that he was “honored” to receive Trump’s support as the “true MAGA Champion fighting against the RINO establishment backing Schmitt.”
Some praised the move, with Andy Surabian, a former White House official who works with Trump, saying keeping the endorsement vague was a “politically sly move that basically made everyone happy in the end.”
