‘Are we in junior high school?’: Don Lemon incredulous over viral Trump Thanos meme

CNN host Don Lemon shook his head and was dumbfounded while reporting on an ad from President Trump’s reelection campaign that featured the president as powerful comic-book villain Thanos.

“What, are we in junior high school?” Lemon asked on his program Tuesday evening. “What the hell? What is this?”

The tweet, sent from the Trump War Room account earlier in the day, featured a video from the Avengers film and depicted Trump’s head on the Marvel villain’s body, snapping his fingers before cutting to a press conference led by Democrats announcing articles of impeachment and showing the lawmakers vaporizing.

“House Democrats can push their sham impeachment all they want,” the tweet said. “President Trump’s re-election is inevitable.”

Thanos is a character in the Marvel Universe whose powers are unmatched.

Lemon characterized the Trump campaign’s tweet as a troll job meant to distract from the impeachment push.

“Go ahead, troll the Democrats,” he said. “Do this stupid, silly, you know what … History won’t record this meme stupid crap.”

As it did in 2016, the Trump campaign has put a great deal of emphasis on online advertising and social media campaigns to drum up donations and attack the president’s critics.

Lemon is a frequent critic of Trump’s policies and appeared insulted that he had to spend time on his program, acknowledging the tweet.

“What? ” Lemon said. “I cannot believe that I’m even having to report this on the news. This is crazy. This is literally crazy. Are you people insane?”
