Michael Cohen says he has no evidence Trump colluded with Russia

President Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen will tell House lawmakers Wednesday that he has no evidence that Trump colluded with Russia to win the election in 2016.

“Questions have been raised about whether I know of direct evidence that Mr. Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia,” he will say, according to his prepared remarks.

“I do not,” he will add. “I want to be clear.”

But Cohen’s testimony also says, “I have my suspicions.”

Cohen said that a year after Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower, something “clicked in my mind.” He said he recalled a 2016 meeting in which Trump Jr. whispered to his father, “The meeting is all set.”

He said he concluded that they were likely talking about the meeting with the Russian lawyer, and that if that was the case, Trump knew about the meeting even though he has said in public that he was not aware of it.

Cohen also takes a swipe at Trump Jr., by saying that the president’s son likely cleared the meeting with his father because Trump Jr. didn’t have good judgment.

“Mr. Trump had frequently told me and others that his son Don Jr. had the worst judgment of anyone in the world,” Cohen will say. “And also, that Don Jr. would never set up any meeting of any significance alone — certainly not without checking with his father.”
