Fox News host Laura Ingraham compared teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg to the characters in Stephen King’s Children of the Corn on her show Monday night.
Thunberg, 16, spoke in front of the United Nations about the dangers of climate change earlier that day. Ingraham played a clip of her speech and commented, “Anyone else find that chilling?”
The Ingraham Angle then cut to a clip of 1984 movie, Children of the Corn. The movie follows a fighting couple that gets stuck in a small town in Nebraska while they are trying to reach California. The children of the town are a part of a dangerous cult that murders anyone over the age of 18.
“I can’t wait for Stephen King’s sequel, ‘Children of the Climate,'” Ingraham said after the clip ended. “Now, the Left, if they ever get in power, will simply use the excuse of climate change to reward their friends and punish their enemies because you will have betrayed the generations before. Well, liberals want to use this global crisis to perpetuate a massive confiscation of wealth.”
There have been nine additional Children of the Corn movies since the original, with the most recent one coming out last year.
The network also faced backlash on Monday after Michael Knowles of the Daily Wire called Thunberg “mentally ill.” The network apologized and said they won’t be booking him moving forward.
