New York City’s annual OZY Fest will feature Hillary Clinton as a headline guest this summer, along with other politicians and entertainers who are staunch opponents of President Trump, OZY Media announced Thursday morning.
Laurene Powell Jobs, the wife of billionaire Steve Jobs and founder/CEO of Emerson Collective, will interview Clinton on July 21 at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield.
“People come to OZY Fest to experience unexpected perspectives. We’re so proud to welcome two global changemakers in Secretary Clinton and Laurene Powell Jobs for an unprecedented exchange of ideas, and have no doubt this conversation will prove enlightening and inspiring for people in attendance and watching via live stream around the world,” Carlos Watson, OZY co-founder and CEO, said in a statement.
Michelle Wolf and Hasan Minhaj, the comedians who performed at the White House correspondents’ dinners over the past two years, were also listed as part of the July 21-22 lineup. The annual gathering of artists, athletes, and influencers is put on each year by OZY Media.
Comedian Chelsea Handler, who on the Fourth of July issued a global apology for the Trump administration in general, will also take the stage.
“To every country on the 4th of July. We’re sorry about our president. He doesn’t reflect all of our views—and we hope you know that the majority of us are ashamed,” Handler tweeted Wednesday.
The event, which CNBC has deemed “New York’s answer to SXSW,“ the annual festival in Texas, will also feature politicians Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., Rep. Mark Sanford, R-S.C., and GOP strategist Karl Rove.
Those two conservatives have criticized Trump, including as recently as last month when the president told voters in Sanford’s South Carolina district not to vote for him in the GOP primary. Sanford went on to lose his race.
Rove, a senior adviser to former President George W. Bush, has blasted Trump for not acting innocent during the federal probe into his campaign’s possible relationship with Russia, as well as his leadership style in general.
Rapper Common, who slammed Trump during his Oscar performance in March, will perform at OZY. Passion Pit will also take the stage, though frontman Michael Angelakos has been more subtle about his concerns with the administration than others, releasing his latest album called “Tremendous Sea of Love,” a line Trump used to describe the crowd at his inauguration.
