Fox News’s Sean Hannity is having trouble feeling sympathy for the local reporter who was berated by anti-quarantine protesters in New York.
As the country remains mostly locked down in various capacities over coronavirus concerns, some are starting to rebel against government orders to stay home. In one instance last week, News 12 Long Island reporter Kevin Vesey filmed his interaction with protesters. The video, which President Trump has shared multiple times in praise of the protesters, showed the reporter being heckled and yelled at by numerous people.
Hannity showed the clip and shared his thoughts on the matter during his show Monday night.
“[Americans] are tired of the lies, hysteria, conspiracy theories coming from the media every second, minute, hour of every 24-hour day. Americans are sick and tired of this B.S. One local reporter in Long Island, well, he captured all of this on his Twitter live feed, and it did not go particularly well for him,” he said while introducing the segment.
“You are the enemy of the people!” one protester shouted at the reporter in the clip, while another screamed, “You are the virus!”
A third person could be heard calling the reporter “a traitor.”
The level of anger directed at the media from these protestors was alarming. As always, I will tell a fair and unbiased story today. pic.twitter.com/5jCR0YY9VH

“I think people are allowed to speak out in America. Some people get upset when Americans speak out,” Hannity added. “It is hard to be sympathetic to the mainstream media mob, considering all the mob does is think that Americans, well, respect them, but after years and years of lies and slander and hoaxes and conspiracy theories — yeah, their credibility is zero.”
The Fox News host went on to tie the incident to the anti-CNN chants that would break out at Trump rallies.
“I’ll probably never forget what happened today,” Vesey said after the incident. “I was insulted. I was berated. I was practically chased by people who refused to wear masks in the middle of a pandemic. All the while, I was there to tell THEIR story. Here’s the finished product.”
