More young people will ‘definitely be voting’ in November: Harvard poll

More people ages 18-29 say they will “definitely be voting” in the upcoming midterm elections, and most are Democrats, according to the poll conducted at Harvard’s Institute of Politics in the Kennedy School of Government.

The March poll said 51 percent of Democrats in that age group say they will vote in the midterm elections, up 9 percent from a similar poll in November. In contrast, 36 percent of Republicans in that age group said they would vote.

The study found that 37 percent of people under 30 said they would “definitely be voting” in November, compared with only 23 percent in 2014.

The poll was conducted on over 2,500 undergraduate students from the Harvard Public Opinion Project.
