Obamas not invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding: Report

Former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama did not make the cut for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding invite list, according to a report.

“It has been decided that an official list of political leaders — both UK and international — is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding,” a Kensington Palace spokesman told CNN.

“Her Majesty’s Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by the Royal Household,” the representative added in a written statement.

As the nuptials are not considered a state event, the couple are not obligated to include foreign heads of state or government.

The British prince and his American fiancee, however, reportedly wanted to extend an invitation to the former president after they forged a friendship while working to promote the Invictus Games together.

But they were advised against doing so by aides for British Prime Minister Theresa May out of fear the snub would offend President Trump.

The ceremony is set to take place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on May 19.
