Kellyanne Conway says Pelosi should be censured for ripping up Trump speech

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should be censured for tearing up a copy of President Trump’s State of the Union address.

“America saw an incorrigible child ripping up the State of the Union,” Conway, 53, told reporters at the White House on Wednesday, according to a pool report.

The California Democrat ripped up her copy of the president’s speech after the nearly 90-minute address to Congress on Tuesday. Earlier in the night, Trump, 73, appeared to snub Pelosi, 79, when she reached out to shake his hand before the speech.

“I think it shows you how petty and peevish and partisan the Democratic Party has become,” Conway said, adding that it was another example of the top House Democrat having a “temper tantrum.”

Vice President Mike Pence, 60, also condemned Pelosi’s move, calling it “a new low.”

“I wasn’t sure if she was ripping up the speech or ripping up the Constitution,” Pence said Wednesday.

Pelosi said she ripped up the speech because it was “a dirty speech.”

“It was a courteous thing to do,” she said.
