‘Toss your ex to the wolves’ on Valentine’s Day, says Pennsylvania wildlife rescue

A Pennsylvania wildlife rescue is appealing to lone wolves, urging would-be donors to feed their exes to the wolves as part of a Valentine’s Day fundraiser.

For $5, T&D’s Cats of the World, located in Penns Creek, Pennsylvania, will allow a donor to toss a wolf-friendly treat bearing the name of a “spouse, girl/boy friend, boss, co-worker, roommate, etc.” to the wolves, the organization said in a post on Facebook. The organization has hosted this fundraiser twice before, in the estimation of Jennifer Mattive, one of the co-owners of T&D Cats of the World.

“One of our volunteers, Jan, she and I were talking about Valentine’s Day and we could do something fun,” Mattive told the Washington Examiner, saying the idea just evolved from there.

Jan, a volunteer with the organization, will make the wolf-friendly treats, the organization said in the Facebook post. It also said it would post photos and a video or two of the wolves enjoying the treats.

Mattive said the fundraiser has grown in the three years that the organization has hosted it.

“I think the first year might’ve been $50, and the second year we sold about $200,” Mattive told the Washington Examiner. “Now this year, we’ve already surpassed $200. I think we have around 80 cookies.”

Those wishing to partake in the fundraiser will have until Friday to either make a payment in the form of a check or through PayPal, according to the organization.

The wildlife rescue is “dedicated to providing a permanent safe haven for unwanted, abused and mistreated exotic pets and wild animals,” according to the website. Mattive said the organization houses an array of animals, including “anywhere from tigers, and we have lions and monkeys and bears, otters, raccoons.”
