Video shows first images of boys after being rescued from flooded cave in Thailand

Video from inside a Northern Thailand hospital shows images of the 12 boys rescued from a flooded cave earlier this week, all who are in stable condition.

Although the boys remain in quarantine and at least three had lung infections upon being rescued, there appear to be no life-threatening or serious injuries or ailments as a result of being trapped in a cave for over two weeks, CNN reports.

The parents of the boys, aged 11-16, where able to come to the hospital Wednesday, although they were not yet able to enter the quarantined room where the boys are being treated and monitored.

CNN’s chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta said the masks on the boys’ faces are for their own protection, since their immune systems could be weakened. He also mentioned that on average, the boys lost four pounds and are being monitored for signs of depression and anxiety.

The 12 boys and their 25-year-old soccer coach were trapped while exploring a cave in Chiang Rai, Thailand, after soccer practice, when they were hit with a downpour that flooded the cave. The 13 were in the cave for nine days before they were discovered by British divers.

More than two weeks after being trapped in the cave, rescue efforts began Sunday and lasted three days until all the boys and their coach were safely retrieved from the cave by Thai Navy SEALs and foreign rescue divers.
