Politicians will share the spotlight with an ensemble of celebrities at the 2020 Democratic National Convention, which begins on Monday.
Actresses Eva Longoria, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kerry Washington, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus will speak on behalf of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s vision for the country. A number of other activists, advocates, and party leaders will also participate in the convention themed “Uniting America.”
“This week, Americans will hear from people from all walks of life who are coming together to support Joe Biden’s vision for a more just, more democratic nation,” said Stephanie Cutter, the program executive for this year’s Democratic National Convention, in a press release. “The voices we’re including are the perfect messengers to lift up our theme of unity and help us engage with more Americans than ever before.”
Music artists will also perform at the convention, including Leon Bridges, The Chicks, Common, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Billy Porter, Maggie Rogers, Prince Royce, and Stephen Stills.
The performances will take place throughout the convention, which will take place from Aug. 17-20.
Over a dozen platforms will be available for people to watch the convention virtually, including the Democratic National Convention’s livestream.
