North Carolina Rep. Mark Walker called on Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. to resign after he shared a photograph from a weekend party on Instagram.
Walker, who is the vice chairman of the House Republican Conference and a board member for Liberty University’s music program, said Falwell’s controversial behavior has been an “ongoing” issue and that he should step down to allow for students to have a better role model.
“Jerry Falwell Jr’s ongoing behavior is appalling. As a Music Faculty Advisory Board Member and former instructor @LibertyU, I’m convinced Falwell should step down,” Walker tweeted. “None of us are perfect, but students, faculty, alumni and @LUPraise deserve better.”

Falwell stirred controversy this week after posting to social media a photograph of himself with his arm around a woman he claims was his “wife’s assistant” at a weekend party. The two both had their pants unzipped and were holding beverages with dark liquid.
Falwell, whose university in Virginia has a stringent code of conduct for students that forbids promiscuity and requires them to dress modestly, deleted the post and apologized during an interview with WLNI.
Falwell said on Wednesday that the photograph was just “good fun” and promised to be a “good boy.”
