President Trump on Friday cheered the impending end of the Korean War, which North and South Korea agreed to after their historic meeting Friday.
“After a furious year of missile launches and Nuclear testing, a historic meeting between North and South Korea is now taking place. Good things are happening, but only time will tell!” Trump posted to Twitter Friday morning.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in pledged Friday to work towards the “complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula” and talk with the U.S. and China to officially declare the end of the Korean War.
“The two leaders declare before our people of 80 million and the entire world there will be no more war on the Korean peninsula and a new age of peace has begun,” the leader’s joint declaration stated.
Kim Jong Un for the first time crossed into the South for the historic summit meeting where the two leaders vowed they would replace a truce with a peace treaty that would officially end the war.
“South and North Korea confirmed the common goal of realizing, through complete denuclearization, a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula,” the declaration read, which both leaders signed after their meeting.
The worldwide live broadcast of the two meeting at the border town of Panmunjom captured handshakes, smiles, and even a hug between Kim and Moon.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who was confirmed by the Senate Thursday, met with the North Korean leader secretly in April, before his confirmation hearing.
