Poll finds Trump supporters more excited to vote for their candidate than Biden supporters

More people who plan to vote for President Trump are excited to do so than those who support Joe Biden, according to a new poll.

A total of 42% of voters who said they support Trump indicated they are excited heading into the November election. Just 31% of Biden’s soon-to-be voters said the same thing.

A vast majority, 72%, of Biden’s supporters said they are anxious about the result of the election, compared with 52% of Trump backers.

With less than 100 days until the November presidential election, voters have expressed that race relations, the handling of the coronavirus pandemic, and the rejuvenation of the economy are top issues.

Biden has blamed Trump for what he described as a botched coronavirus response and has accused him of fanning the flames of racial tensions in the country.

“He admitted telling people, and I quote, ‘You have to slow the testing down — slow it down, please,’” Biden said of Trump. “He thinks that finding out that more Americans are sick will make him look bad. That’s what he’s worried about. He’s worried about looking bad.”

Trump has described Biden as a corrupt career politician who is mentally unfit to be commander in chief and is beholden to the far-left wing of the Democratic Party.

“Well, I would have said experience, but he doesn’t really have experience because I don’t think he remembers what he did yesterday,” Trump said in May.“So, how is that experience? He’s been there a long time. He was never known as a smart person.”

Trump’s supporters have contested that a “silent majority” still stands with the president despite his falling national poll numbers in recent weeks. Biden is leading Trump by at least 7 points in most national polls.

Last week, a study commissioned by the Pew Research Center found that a majority of voters feel they cannot express their political opinions openly for fear of public or professional backlash. The majority of these were people who identified as conservative, according to the study.
