Biden up 14 points over Trump in CNN poll

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is rising in the polls.

The former vice president has expanded his lead over the past month to 14 percentage points over President Trump in a CNN poll released on Monday. The poll asked 1,259 respondents who they’re more likely to vote for among the two candidates, and 55% picked Biden, while 41% said they would vote for Trump to serve a second term.

In last month’s poll, Biden had a 51%-46% lead. That was down from his 11 percentage point lead over Trump in April.

Trump’s approval rating of 38% was outweighed by 57% of respondents saying they disapproved of the way he is “handling his job as president.”

Trump lashed out at CNN soon after the poll results were released.

“CNN Polls are as Fake as their Reporting. Same numbers, and worse, against Crooked Hillary. The Dems would destroy America!” he tweeted.

The latest poll was conducted after the U.S. coronavirus death toll surpassed 100,000, and the economy took a major hit amid stay-at-home orders meant to curb the spread of the virus. The survey was also conducted during nationwide protests in response to the death of George Floyd in police custody on Memorial Day.
