Two teenagers were shot and killed in two separate shootings within an hour of each other on Tuesday.
The Chicago Police Department said that Michael Brown, 15, was likely walking home from school when he was approached by an individual in Bronzeville who opened fire, striking him in the head, as reported by an ABC local affiliate. The boy later died at the hospital.

Less than an hour after the shooting, a 16-year-old boy in Woodlawn, who has not been identified, was standing on a street corner when he was shot in the head.
Police said they have several persons of interest in both cases in custody.
Two men “believed to be connected” to the first shooting have been taken in for questioning, and another person of interest in the second shooting is in police custody, according to the outlet.

Chicago reported its deadliest year in decades last year. In November, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that over 1,000 homicides had taken place in 2021, and of those, 927 were gun-related. The last time that homicides had reached the same level was in 1994.
