Customers who buy a car at a Ford dealership in Chatom, Alabama, will also receive a complimentary 12-gauge shotgun, an American flag, and a Bible.
The deal runs from now until the end of July to celebrate Independence Day.
Koby Palmer, general manager of Chatom Ford, said the giveaway recognizes the values of the small town of a little over 1,000 residents. “They lean on their religious beliefs, their pride in America, and they love to hunt,” Palmer told USA Today. “This is just showing support for our local community.”
He stressed that the dealership doesn’t simply hand out guns. Customers at least 18 years old and legally allowed to own a gun in any state receive a certificate from a firearms dealer in town.
“Anyone that doesn’t 100% agree with what we’re portraying, we’re not trying to force our beliefs on anybody. We respect anybody that disagrees, no matter how vehemently they do,” Palmer said.
The company posted a Facebook ad promoting the giveaway that has since gone viral, receiving more than 83,000 views as of Wednesday morning. Palmer said in three full business days, Chatom Ford has sold more than five.
