‘Too much peaceful marches’: Cardi B says Minneapolis looters left with no choice but to burn buildings and destroy property

Rapper Cardi B suggested she supported the looting of businesses in Minnesota and other cities around the country by people upset with the death of an unarmed black man involved in a police incident this week because activists have no other method of communicating their outrage effectively.

“They looting in Minnesota and as much as I don’t like this type of violence it is what it is,” the rapper tweeted on Wednesday. “Too much peaceful marches, too much trending hashtags and NO SOLUTIONS! The people are left with NO CHOICE.”

Massive protests erupted in Minneapolis on Wednesday night following the death of 46-year-old George Floyd, who was seen on video with his neck pinned to the ground by a police officer. Floyd is heard on the video pleading with an officer to get off his neck and telling him he can’t breathe.

All four of the officers involved in Monday’s incident have been fired by the city, and the mayor has asked the local prosecutor to pursue murder charges against the officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck.

The incident has galvanized the African American community, and several other celebrities have expressed shock and outrage after watching the video.
