A Texas man has been charged with making death threats to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats.
Federal prosecutors announced the charges against Gavin Weslee Blake Perry, 27, of Wichita Falls, Texas, on Thursday, according to the New York Times.
The alleged threats were made while Perry ranted on social media about the congressional response to the coronavirus pandemic. In the posts, Perry accused Pelosi of being part of a satanic cult and called for the deaths of Democrats.
“If youre a dem or apart of the establishment in the democrats side I view you as a criminal and a terrorist and I advise everyone to Go SOS and use live rounds,” Perry wrote on Facebook, using the abbreviation for “shoot on site,” according to prosecutors.
The post included a screenshot of what appeared to be two tweets from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
“Shoot to kill,” Perry wrote, according to prosecutors. “This is a revolution.”
“Nancy pelosi is apart of a santanic cult and so are rhe people who work closly with her,” he allegedly wrote in another post. “Dems of the establishment will be removed at any cost necessary and yes that means by death.”
Perry, who was arrested Wednesday, was charged with transmitting a threatening communication in interstate commerce and faces up to five years in prison.
Law enforcement said they were tipped off to the social media posts by a concerned citizen.
