Meghan McCain rips New York Times over opinion piece saying she’s a ‘problem’ on The View

Meghan McCain trashed the New York Times over an opinion article calling for her to be removed from The View.

Shamira Ibrahim, a culture reporter, claimed that The View “has a Meghan McCain problem.” Ibrahim called McCain “exhausting,” adding, “The problem is, with Ms. McCain still on the show, there’s not much to enjoy.”

Ibrahim’s editorial follows two weeks of questions circulating McCain’s role on the show. Her co-host, Abby Huntsman, announced that she was leaving the show to run her father’s campaign in Utah, but many have reported that she wanted to escape the show’s hostility. McCain also had a viral spat with Whoopi Goldberg after the longtime host told her, “Girl, please stop talking.” McCain even took a personal break from the show after feuding with her co-hosts last week.

McCain pushed back on Ibrahim’s editorial, despite her rough few weeks on the show. She tweeted, “Everyone already knows how much you despise red state, pro-life, pro #2A conservative women, and wish we would all just go away.”

Megyn Kelly also came to McCain’s defense, tweeting, “The hatred for conservative women by the ‘woke’ is ever apparent and totally undermining to their demands that ppl take them seriously. So empathetic … unless you don’t think exactly as they do.”

Ibrahim’s post noted that there is a Change.org petition to give McCain the boot from the show. The petition calls for McCain to be replaced by Ana Navarro, a regular guest host on the show who also markets herself as conservative. While some may not like McCain, she has been a key part of the show’s rebirth since Barbara Walters left the program, including an increase in viewership. Even the New York Times called The View the “most important political TV show in America” in May and cited McCain for playing a “large part in the show’s recent relevance.”
