President Trump knocked Democrats on Thursday for crafting a “phony crime” about collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, saying his political opponents colluded to “make this pile of garbage take on a life” in the media.
“So, the Democrats make up a phony crime, Collusion with the Russians, pay a fortune to make the crime sound real, illegally leak (Comey) classified information so that a Special Councel will be appointed, and then Collude to make this pile of garbage take on life in Fake News!” Trump tweeted.

The president’s gripe about the Russia probe, currently being led by special counsel Robert Mueller, comes hours before the Justice Department’s internal watchdog will release a report with an assessment of the FBI and Justice Department’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
The report, expected to be made public this afternoon and run several hundred pages long, will reportedly chastise top FBI and Justice Department officials, including former FBI Director James Comey.
As director of the FBI, Comey oversaw the bureau’s investigation into Russian meddling until his firing in May 2017. After he was terminated from his post, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein tapped Mueller to take over the inquiry.
