Larry Kudlow, picked to be President Trump’s new economic adviser, has privately told the White House that the nation’s economy is on the verge of 4 percent to 5 percent growth, or more than double the last decade.
In a recent gathering with Trump, he said that many firms held back investing until the tax reform package passed and “some of that is already showing up.”
What’s more, he told the president, “We’re on the front end of the biggest investment boom in probably 30 to 40 years.” The president responded, “Well, I couldn’t have said it any better.” …

Ben Carson, the housing secretary and former 2016 presidential candidate, along with his publisher, have been cleared of charges that his early White House bid was funded by his book tour to sell “A More Perfect Union.” The Federal Election Commission voted against punishing Random House, and instead said it would “exercise its prosecutorial discretion” to clear the charges, a big victory for book publishers. …
There have been many headlines in the past touting every new election as “The Year of the Woman.” But political scholar Eric J. Ostermeier said that this will be first where its “The Year of Woman Vs. Woman.” He said that six states — Arizona, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New York, Wisconsin, and the special election in Minnesota — are likely to see woman battling each other for U.S. Senate seats, twice the last record. Ostermeier is the author of the Smart Politics blog at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. …
