Harry Reid: ‘I’m pretty damn worried’ about Trump’s chances of reelection

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid warned Democrats not to dismiss President Trump’s chances of winning in 2020, saying he has an ability to outlast scandals and countless attacks from his rivals.

“I’m pretty damn worried,” Reid told the Daily Beast. “Anybody that thinks he’s going to be beaten easily is wrong. As sad as it is. As hard as it is for me to say this: don’t count that man out.”

“He’s carried the term bullshit as far as it will go,” Reid added. “I’ve never known a human being in a position of prominence that you can do nothing to damage his ego in any way. It is absolutely unbelievable.”

The Nevada Democrat said earlier this year Trump’s presidency makes him miss the days of President George W. Bush, whom Reid was highly critical of during his time in the White House.

“In hindsight, I wish every day for a George Bush again,” Reid said. “I think that he and I had our differences, but no one ever questioned his patriotism. Our battles were strictly political battles.”

Reid, 79, retired in 2016 after an exercise injury left him blind in one eye. He has since been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, undergoing surgery in 2018 to remove a tumor.
