Roseanne Barr late Tuesday blamed sleep aid Ambien for her tweet saying former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett looked like a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.”
“guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me,” Barr wrote Tuesday night, according to Fox News, in what appears to be a since-deleted tweet. “It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please. Ty.”
“I think Joe Rogan is right about ambien,” Barr said in the very early hours of Wednesday. “Not giving excuses for what I did(tweeted) but I’ve done weird stuff while on ambien-cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc -.”
In another tweet that remained on her Twitter, she asked for people to stop defending her over losing her show, and said she was more upset over being labeled a racist than having “Roseanne” canceled.

“hey guys, don’t defend me, it’s sweet of you 2 try, but…losing my show is 0 compared 2 being labelled a racist over one tweet-that I regret even more,” Barr posted to Twitter.

On Tuesday, the first black female ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey released a statement that the popular reboot of “Roseanne” would be canceled and not returning to ABC for a second season.
Barr’s comedy show was an instant success on ABC, and the first episode of the reboot was seen by 18 million people.
Late Tuesday night, Barr also apologized to the “hundred of hardworking people” she caused to lose their job by causing the cancellation of the show.
