Malibu beach house balcony collapse leaves nearly a dozen injured

Nearly a dozen people were injured after a balcony affixed to a Malibu, California, beach house collapsed on Saturday evening.

Numerous suspected party-goers were present on the beach-side terrace before it gave out, sending nearly all of the individuals toward jagged rocks on the shoreline, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Ron Haralson said, according to KTLA. At least nine were wounded, four of whom were transported to hospitals after the 10- to 15-foot fall.

Screams can be heard in video footage of the incident.

The homeowner rented the house to four people who claimed to be from Colorado. The temporary visitors were instructed not to have a party.

The property owner checked home security cameras after neighbors complained about noise and found more than a dozen people gathered inside the residence.
