Trump seeking to meet with black lawmakers

The White House is seeking to arrange a meeting between President Trump and the Congressional Black Caucus, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Wednesday.

“We’ve reached out,” Spicer said, but he added that a date for the session had not yet been arranged.

The Congressional Black Caucus has among it some of the most adamantly anti-Trump lawmakers in the House, including Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., a vitriolic Trump opponent who recently lost a race to become Democratic National Committee chair.

Trump today is meeting with one member of the CBC, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee. Trump and Cummings will discuss drug prices, but Spicer said the conversation could diverge into other topics.
