The Proud Boys, a right-wing group, marched Saturday on the streets of Long Island, New York, entering stores and approaching Black Friday weekend shoppers.
At least 20 members of the organization, which is designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti-Defamation League, paraded through Rockville Centre adorned in black, according to a report and video of the march.
Playing rap music, the members covered their faces and flew multiple variations of the American flag, including one that read “Don’t Tread on Me.”

The group entered stores yelling slogans and handing out flyers to shoppers.
The flyers allegedly described the group and its ideology, according to a report.
Democratic and liberal officials voiced their opinions of the group’s march on social media.
“I’m aware of the march through Rockville Centre that white nationalists organized today,” said Rep. Kathleen Rice, a New York Democrat, in a tweet. “I am disgusted that this took place in our district. I will continue to fight against racism, hatred, and white nationalism while serving as your representative.”

New York state Sen. Todd Kaminsky, also a Democrat, echoed Rice.
“The Neo-fascist Proud Boys marched through Rockville Centre today, close to my office. I think the latest elections emboldened them-I don’t remember this happening before,” he tweeted. “I will not be silent. Their hatred has no place here-this is not the Nassau I know. Who else will speak up?”

The march and display were unsettling, said Democratic state Assemblywoman Judy Griffin.
It is extremely concerning that the far-right, neo-fascist Proud Boys held a march through Rockville Centre this afternoon. Organized groups that espouse violence and hate should not be welcome in our communities. pic.twitter.com/AGqaGwHsqc
