New York Rep. Lee Zeldin, a Republican, mocked NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick Monday after law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect in a series of weekend bombings.
Suspect in custody. You are welcome Colin Kaepernick.

“You are welcome Colin Kaepernick,” Zeldin tweeted on Monday after authorities took Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, into custody after a shootout with police in Linden, N.J.
Rahami, who is of Afghan descent but is also a U.S. citizen, was wanted in connection to the bombings in New York and New Jersey over the weekend.
Kaepernick has faced backlash for refusing to stand during the nation anthem ahead of football games, in protest against police brutality against African-Americans.
Zeldin has swiped at Kaepernick before. Last month, he tweeted that the San Francisco 49ers player “should think about the service members risking their lives to protect his freedom to be both rich and unpatriotic in NFL.”
