Priorities USA, the super PAC aimed at bolstering Hillary Clinton and taking down her Republican competitors, is gearing up for a competitive general election against Donald Trump and will begin airing ads in key battleground states this Wednesday.
In addition to the $130 million already set aside for ad reservations, the group will allocate an additional $6 million to swing state television ads in Ohio, Florida, Virginia and Nevada airing May 18 to June 8. The group had previously announced that they wouldn’t begin their general election ads until after the June New Jersey and California primaries, but moved up the start date in order to aid the Clinton campaign’s pivot towards the general election.
While Clinton must still continue to campaign in primary states and fundraise in order to beat Bernie Sanders, the PAC allows her to prepare for the general election. While Priorities USA’s attack plan is still unclear, many Democrats have spent the past weeks categorizing Trump as contradictory and dangerous. So far the PAC has released several YouTube videos critiquing Trump’s lack of foreign policy experience and ideas about whom he would appoint to the Supreme Court as well as the violence at his campaign rallies.
This brings Priorities USA to a total of $136 million in ad reservations with $96 allotted for television, $35 million for digital and $5.3 million for radio ads all aimed at Donald Trump.
