Does a restaurant’s description sound too good to be true? Want to check out that new hole-in-the-wall but a little wary about what you’ll find? Well now you can check it out without lifting a finger. OK, you’ll have to lift a finger — but you definitely won’t have to move your feet.
A new iPhone app called EveryScape Eats that launched this week allows D.C. foodies to check out the interiors of area restaurants before they decide to make the schlep to grab a bite. The app, developed by Massachusetts-based EveryScape, lets customers “walk around” establishments to see the ambience and atmosphere the restaurant offers.
While good for those new, out-of-the-way places, EveryScape CEO Jim Schoonmaker notes it’s also useful for when you want to impress people but don’t have the time to swing by the restaurant to check it out yourself.
“Anyone who has ever stressed about where to take their in-laws for dinner, or finding an appropriate place to take their boss for lunch will appreciate how quickly [Eats!] can help answer these questions,” Schoonmaker said.
The app is also available for iPod or diners can just visit EveryScape’s website.
EveryScape initially launched Eats! in Boston and is rolling out the application nationally with city-by-city launches. D.C. joins Seattle, San Francisco and New York’s SoHo launch. EveryScape plans to introduce the application in additional cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and New Orleans in the next six months.
