More subpoenas in for D.C. Council members

D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown and at-large Councilman Michael Brown are the latest legislators to receive subpoenas from a federal grand jury probing campaign finance practices in the District. Allison Abney, Brown’s spokeswoman, said the chairman’s campaign received the order Thursday afternoon and “intends to comply fully with the subpoena.” Investigators are seeking documents related to campaign contributions from Jeffrey Thompson, a prolific donor to District campaigns whose home and offices were raided two weeks ago.The grand jury has also demanded information from at least three other council members. — Alan Blinder
