President Trump greeted FBI director James Comey at the White House on Sunday, joking that the agency’s leader has become more well-known than he is.
Trump was giving remarks at an event for first responders when he noticed Comey and called him across the room.
“He’s become more famous than me,” Trump said in a veiled reference to his role in the FBI’s investigation of former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
Comey came under fire during the presidential election over how the FBI handled the investigation into Clinton’s emails. He sent a letter to Congress about a week before Election Day, saying his agency was reviewing newly discovered emails that were found during an investigation into former Rep. Anthony Weiner.
