Confirmation hearing set for DNI nominee Dan Coats

Former Sen. Dan Coats will appear before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Tuesday for his confirmation hearing to be the next director of national intelligence.

The hearing will be open to the public, but could be followed by a closed session, according to a release from the committee.

Coats is a former Republican senator from Indiana who sat on both the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Armed Services Committee. He was officially nominated on Jan. 7.

President Trump has so far had a contentious relationship with the intelligence community after questioning their conclusion that Russia interfered in the election and blaming them for leaks to the press.
