Likely girlfriend of Rayshard Brooks arrested in Wendy’s arson case

A woman named Natalie White has been arrested on suspicion of arson in the case of the Wendy’s in Atlanta, Georgia, that was burned down hours after the death of Rayshard Brooks.

While it is not yet confirmed that Natalie White was Brooks’s girlfriend, moments before he was killed, Brooks told police officers that he was meeting up with his girlfriend, named Natalie White.

Brooks’s family was holding a funeral for him at the time of the arrest, though it is unclear where the arrest took place. An arrest warrant was issued for White earlier this week.

Rayshard Brooks was killed in front of a Wendy’s after telling officers that he had consumed one margarita and then fell asleep in the restaurant’s drive-thru lane. Officers attempted to arrest Brooks, and there was a struggle. Brooks reached for the officer’s Taser, grabbed it, and ran away with it. Brooks turned back to fire the Taser in the officer’s direction. Officer Garrett Rolfe shot Brooks. The rounds hit Brooks in the back, fatally wounding him.

Rolfe was fired and charged with felony murder along with 10 other counts.
