RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Attorney General Mark Herring is warning Virginians to beware of companies offering to sell them a copy of the deed to their home.
Herring says homeowners in the state have been receiving official-looking letters, often titled as a “Deed Processing Notice.” The letters offer to sell the homeowners a copy of their deed for $83 and include language suggesting a deadline for compliance.
