An Alexandria Fire Department paramedic was critically injured during an emergency response on Interstate 395, officials said.
Joshua Weissman, 33, of Bristow, was in critical condition at Washington Hospital Center, according to a news release.
At about 6:21 p.m. Wednesday, the Alexandria Fire Department responded to reports of a car on fire on I-395 near South Glebe Road. When Weissman responded to the scene, he exited a vehicle, left the roadway and fell 20 feet into Four Mile Run Creek, officials said.
Weissman is a seven-year veteran of the Alexandria Fire Department and was hired in April 2006, officials said.
